W. G. Champion Mitchell
Champion Mitchell has run two multi-billion dollar corporations, headed two successful technology start-ups and led four turnarounds of troubled companies. Today he is the Chairman and CEO of Network Solutions, the world's largest provider of domain names and one of the largest providers of websites and domain based email. After turning around Network Solutions and making it a successful, customer responsive and cash positive business, Mitchell led its recent buyout and separation from VeriSign.
While at VeriSign, Mitchell also was the executive vice-president and general manager of its Mass Markets Division. In addition to heading the VeriSign domain name registration unit, he also had VeriSign's digital certificate business (SSL) and VeriSign Payment Services, the largest Internet payment gateway reporting to him.
Prior to taking leadership of this registrar, he founded, headed and sold two successful technology startups in the VOIP area.
Mitchell has served as a senior executive in a number of large corporations, including as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company before, during and after its buyout by KKR in the largest LBO in history.
In the decade and one-half before turning to business, Mitchell was a lawyer and partner in two large national law firms.
Both Presidents Bush and Clinton nominated Mitchell to the board of directors of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and he has served both presidents as a member of the President's Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.
Venkat Mohan
With a focus on software and services, Venkat brings more than 25 years of experience in company operations to Norwest Venture Partners. His most recent investments and board seat appointments include The 41st Parameter Inc., a provider of risk management solutions for protecting merchants and financial institutions from credit card fraud and phishing attacks, Epiance Inc., a provider of business performance improvement (BPI) solutions that capture and automate business processes, and Global eXchange Services (GXS) Inc., a provider of B2B e-commerce solutions. Venkat was formerly a member of the board of directors of Crossweave (acquired by AmberPoint), and Softface (acquired by Ariba). He currently serves as a strategic advisor to Arbortext, a leading provider of enterprise multi-channel publishing solutions. Venkat joined Norwest Venture Partners in 2000. Formerly, he was president and chief operating officer at OnDisplay, a leading provider of business-to-business infrastructure software and services. He helped take the company public in 1999; it was then acquired by Vignette Corporation for $1.8 billion.
Earlier Venkat was vice president of global marketing and e-commerce at General Electric Information Services, formerly one of GE's 11 operating businesses. He also served as president and COO at Cadis, a software start-up; executive vice president of marketing at VMX, a pioneer in voice processing; and CEO of WIPRO Systems, one of India's largest software and services companies. He also held a variety of marketing and management positions at Hewlett Packard, Young & Rubicam, and McKinsey.
Venkat was awarded an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was elected a Baker Scholar. He also holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a master's degree in industrial and system engineering from the University of Florida.

Ted Schlein
Ted Schlein joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in November 1996. His focus has been in the area of enterprise security and applications, infrastructure and services. Ted managed the KPCB Java Fund, formed to invest in Java technology-based companies and related Internet, Intranet, networking and communications companies. He serves on the board of 3VR, 41st Parameter, ArcSight, ENDFORCE, Fortify Software, IronPlanet, Ketera Technologies, Oakley Networks, and oversees the company’s interests in Internet Security Systems and New Vine Logistics. Additionally, Ted serves on the board of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA).
Ted came to KPCB with significant experience in enterprise software business management at Symantec Corporation. As Vice President of Networking and Client Server Technology, he was responsible for overseeing the marketing and development of enterprise products. Prior to that he served as VP of Symantec’s European business development and as VP Data Management Group. Mr. Schlein is credited with establishing Symantec in both the utilities and antivirus markets by starting and building these business units. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Parveen Jain, Ph.D.
Currently, Dr. Parveen Jain is Chairman of JovianData, Inc. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of CorpDev, Strategy & BD at McAfee, Inc., where earlier he served as EVP of Worldwide Marketing, and President of Network Security BU. Before McAfee, Parveen was founder and CEO of IntruVert Networks, acquired by McAfee in May 2003. Before IntruVert, Parveen spent 15+ years in power & process industry and was founder & CEO of Computing Technologies International, which delivered software/services for improving efficiency of nuclear and fossil power plants. Before CTI, Parveen was a founding team member and VP of application products of Expert-EASE Systems that developed AI and Expert Systems products. Parveen’s career also includes strategic management consultancy roles at companies delivering fiber optic networking equipment; Internet-based data mining and aggregation; Web-based Application Service Provider (ASP) tools and services for network management; and B2B marketplaces.
Parveen has received several awards including Hay Gold Medal for Best Student of BE-ET at IISC, has one granted and several pending US Patents, and he has authored over 50 business and professional papers. He has a Ph.D.-NE from University of Illinois-UC, MS-NE from the University of Cincinnati, BE-ET from IISc, and a BS(Physics Honors) from Delhi University.
Parveen serves on the boards of several startup companies and holds executive positions with several charitable not-for-profit religious and social organizations.
